Could a Giuliani Election Lead to Christian Jihad?

Fr. Rich on August 28, 2007 06:39 PM EST writes:
Even if Kevin Baker is wrong about how conservative Christians might react if Giuliani wins, his Harpers article still raises good reasons voters should think twice about electing him. The article shows that Rudy hasn't always been who he's claimed to be, and that he ran a "ruthless mayoral campaign designed to reaffirm New Yorkers worst fears about their city." Haven't we suffered enough destructive fear-mongering under Bush the past seven years?

What a weird concern this Harper's guy has! What evangelical leaders would unite with the poor to form an extremist reaction to a pro-choice Republican President? Not the social justice Jim Wallis types. And not the yahoo nutcase James Dobson types, who look down their noses at the poor even as they minister unto them with a slice of bread and a religious tract.

If the poor start an uprising in America, it'll be social revolution, not Christian jihad, but then the group to really fear will be the rich and powerful.
