My friend just had her second baby three days ago. She was born in the back of the taxicab on the way to the hospital.

Born in a taxi cab

So was I. Sept.5,1927, N.Y.C., as noted on my birth certificate.

Our family summered on the New Jersey shores. My mother's labor came earlier than expected. She had to walk along the New Jersey shoreline for about a mile to reach a ferry boat to cross the Hudson, to reach New York city, where her physician resided.

Just as the cab reached the Doctor's address, I emerged.

"He was born in a taxicab, in front of my door" is written on my birth certificate", signed by the doctor.

My dad refused to talk to reporters.

He was a grocer and was embarassed by the event.
