Women of Faith

Really well-written piece. People find and lose religion in their lives by the experiences they have growing up. I know I've had my share of ups and downs through the process too. What's amazing about your story though is how you managed to make each experience your own and decide how you would let it affect you. You never take anything lying down, do you?

Post more!

Great!

Hey, manya! I loved it! I actually didn't know that you were "technically" Jewish. I'd like to talk more about this...any interest in coming down to pton for a shabbos?

The great Christian prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours (also called the Divine Office or the Breviary) is also prayed standing, and begins with the invitatory, "O Lord, open my lips.
And my mouth will proclaim your praise."

The LOTH developed from the Jewish custom of praying at prescribed hours of the day and night. In fact, most Christian liturgy is derived from Jewish liturgy.

The two traditions share many prayers, which only makes sense since one faith developed from the other.
